Self Deception was new music to me, it was my daughter who introduced me to their music.
It’s always a pleasure to discover new music and I know when my nerdy smiles is there, then I know I have found gold!
9th of December they were playing as the support act to Smash into Pieces at the venue Dynamo/Hallarna in Norrköping, Sweden.
I had listened to their material before this evening and really liked what I heard but it is one thing to hear them on record in a studio, and another thing to see a band perform live. I wasn’t disappointed ,on the contrary …I was totally sold!
They had a great energy on stage. As Dynamo is a small venue place with a maximum capacity close to 400 people, the audience can come very close to the stage .The good energy was really there, it went in waves through the stage to the audience and back. It really showed that they had fun on stage ,the middle talk was great and introduced the songs in a good way. They had the audience in the palm of their hands and we gave them our love.
One song that went straight into my heart was You can’t fight fire with Gasoline.
They have strong lyrics and the music wall really lift the lyrics to the roof.
It was cheering, hand clapping and sing -along through the entire concert and it was sweaty and crowded just as a good show shall be!
Their stage presence was awesome and they interact with the audience. I’m actually surprised that they haven’t get much bigger attention than they have to this day!
The band started 2005 in Stockholm by the singer Andreas Clark and the drummer Erik Eklund. They have released two EP and 4 full length albums. Nowadays they release their music on their own record company. They have toured with Takida, Young Guns and Lower than Atlantis and in 2023 they performed at Sweden Rock Festival.
The name Self Deception came up as Andreas and Erik had played in other constellations with music they couldn’t stand behind, it was Self Deception.
2019 came the EP Endorse the art that was able to be made by crowdfunding from their fans.
Self Deception is a band I definitely want to see more of and I’m happy my daughter Anna introduced me to their music! The few shows that they are doing for now are sold-out!
