A talk with Rexoria

REXORIA is a female-fronted melodic metal band from Sweden. With their last two singles, they have generated attention in the scene, and we have invited them for an interview.

How are you? How have you experienced the response to your last two singles? With “Light Up The Sky,” you were even featured on the cover of the Spotify playlist “Epic & Melodic.”

Rexoria:
We’re just fine thank you!
The response for the two singles have been very good. Like you mention, “Light Up The Sky” have some really good distribution thanks to that play list. And it was also really cool that even featured on the cover of that list. That was absolutely nothing we would have expected! So we are very pleased about that.
We also released a music video on Youtube with the same song that has a decent amount of views. And not to forget, the first single “Set Me on Fire” is also released on Youtube in a lyric video.

You released two albums so far, yet you are still somewhat under the radar in the scene. Do you have an explanation for this and will REXORIA soon be appearing in the lineups of major festivals?

Rexoria:
Well, the timing when we released the second album “Ice Breaker” couldn’t be worse.
The Covid started to break out not so far from release date and all venues suddenly closed down and no shows happened. In short, this time was very hard for many bands. Maybe even harder for non established bands! Because they are very dependent on live shows to get publicity.
And to not only blame the pandemic, I think that we did an okay album, but if the album would have been even better, I think we would have reached out to more people during that period of course.
But we really think and hope the new album will take us forward in the music business.

Your new singles “Light Up The Sky” and “Set Me On Fire” definitely have catchy qualities. Is this your breakthrough?

Rexoria:
Thank you! It’s impossible to say what will be the breakthrough but we absolutely believe this kind of songs is in our favor. And more or less the complete album has this kind of catchy melodies in different part of the songs, so we hope that the listener like it as much as we do.
The respond is this far very good and it seems like people and fans likes it!

Rexoria about their second album “Ice Breaker”

Tell us a little about your upcoming album. What will it be called, when will it be released, and what plans do you have after the release?

Rexoria:
The new album is called “Imperial Dawn” and will be released feb 3rd. The formats is purple vinyl, black vinyl, CD and streaming services. Right now we are looking to join a tour in Europe! (nothing booked yet) And to have some festival-shows in the summer would be great.
We are also planing some kind of release party of the album. It will not be on the release date, but since we never had a release party of any of our albums, it would be great to have one.

How do you see the development in the melodic metal genre, in which you are active. This genre seems to be experiencing a real boom.

Rexoria:
Yes the genre is growing! This is very good for all of us to have even more attention to this great kind of music. In general I think the use of digital tools is getting more and more important in this genre. This way to work seems to grow in the music industry, and in “our” genre it’s common to work with a lot of digital tools.

How did you meet and at what point did you decide to form a band and move in the direction of melodic metal?

Rexoria:
Martin, Jonas and Frida had a band before REXORIA but wasn’t really satisfied.
One day we talked about the situation and made the decision to start a new band with a music style that we actually wanted to play and believed in.  We wrote some songs and started to look for one more guitar player. Frida got in touch with Cristofer and asked if he wanted to meet up and have a meeting. He was ready to join the band right away and that was the start for REXORIA.
