Theo Nt is mainly a rock singer that has a voice that has been known to stop people in the streets and hold them there for hours. While a versatile musician in many aspects, who composes, mixes, and masters all of his own material, it is the range and colour of his voice which has heralded him the mixed Greek Chris Cornell/Jeff Buckley and makes him a natural draw. About time to learn more about this amazingly talented guy!
Hey, thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!
How are you doing? Covid and all.
I feel better during the last quarantine. Getting used to it! Haha!
I think it was a great time to start doing things and organize yourself in a more methodical way.
Hehe, Yeah I can see what you mean there! How come you decided to compose/create music?
I think it is because it is the space where nobody can touch you, hurt you or anything else. It’s secludes you from the outside world in a way.
What can you tell me about your influences and inspiration(s)?
70’s and 90’s is my thing. Soulful song-writing and performance. Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, The Doors, Frank Sinatra, Nirvana, CCR and Freddie Mercury are the way to go in terms of inspiration
You call yourself Theo Nt. Why did you choose this name and does it have a (special) meaning?
Nothing special here. Just my name and my surname abbreviated. When you build a brand they remember your name if the stuff is excellent!
Can you tell me something about the journey this far?
My advice to everybody is to stay true, consistent and sane. It’s a hard way to rock while being there for all your life. Don’t take shit from anybody especially in this new and rotten music business model. Whatever happens remember your roots…
Don’t you want to part of a band, or do you prefer to be in control of everything yourself?
I pretty much prefer being solo. After so many trial and errors you see that bands are relationships without having sex and someday they usually end, not all of them but people tend to walk away for whatever reason that you can’t control. It is not fair so you do yourself a favour and prevent that by staying solo.
What are the (long time) goals with Theo Nt?
Create as many albums as I can while explore various genres and collaborations to the most.
Are there are singles/ an album coming up?
Probably my new album will come later this year. I am planning for Q4 for its release
Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?
Nothing at the moment but these things change from day to day, you know.
