Northern Redemption drops new single

Hailing from Sweden, Northern Redemption has released a brand new single. After some line up changes the band felt the time was right to let the world know what their new and improved sound is all about. The track is titled Something Is Going On and is released on all digital platforms as an independent release!

Something Is Going On is the fifth single from Northern Redemption and tells us the tail of a boy named “Gävlepojken”, born 1663 and died 1676. The song is accompanied by a brand new lyric video!

Norther Redemption adds: “The song “Something Is Going On” is about a boy from Gävle who is remembered as a witness in witch trials and as the main person responsible for the Stockholm witch trial in 1676. We have here the story in a short form of Griis, the boy from Gävle, who claims his mother took him to Satan’s Sabbath in Blockula (Blåkulla) and sexually abused him. Many people wanted to hear about his visits to this place and Griis told many fantastic stories about Satan’s Sabbath. Inspired by the stories, other children and young people also claimed that they had been abducted and taken to Satan. A real witchcraft hysteria broke out and in order to protect the children, the parish priest presented the mayor with a petition signed by the parents asking the authorities to investigate in order to protect the children. During the proceedings Griis, the Gävle boy as he was called, was interrogated as well as other children. During the interrogation, both the Gävle boy and the other children changed their testimony to the effect that it was not the witches but he himself who had carried out the abduction of the two teenage maids and himself. He claimed that by executing his mother, “her spirit” fell upon him and he was able to transform himself into a witch to bring children to Blockula by himself. The Gävle boy was then sentenced to be beheaded and burned as a witch. Ultimately, however, he was to be executed not for witchcraft but for giving false testimony and inciting false testimony. The Gävle boy was executed by hanging in November 1676 at the age of thirteen.”
