A talk with Lime Wolf

When the covid pandemic hit and the world grinded to a hold, it meant that all was at a standstill. Concerts where only in digital form, hardly any new music was released in that period and some musicians even decided to change things completely. All because of the fact that people got time on their hands all of a sudden.
One of the good things that emerged from that dark period, is that some musicians got the time and opportunity to pursue their dreams. One of those musicians is Andreas Wikander, also known as Lime Wolf. Besides being the energetic frontman and singer for several metal (core) outfits in Sweden, he found the time and inspiration to create Lime Wolf. A blues rock/dark country project build up from scratch where this talented Swede has created a unique sound and feel where he can put in a different side of his musical soul!

Hi Andreas! Thanks for making a little time for Maizter Underground! First of all, how are you doing?

Hi! I’m all good Thank you, how are you?

I’m doing great, Thanks! You have announced your debut album with Lime Wolf, but Lime Wolf did not pop up out of the ground. What can you tell me about Lime Wolf’s inception?

Ah yes an album is in the horizon now, but first of all there will be single releases that will build up to the album. No, you are absolutely right. I’ve wanted to start something like this for quite a while but I’ve always had other projects that took all my time. But that all changed when suddenly a pandemic struck the world. My other projects where set on pause in order to re-construction and to re-think how to move forward, so this gave me time to start my solo project, which from the start was meant to be a Country music project. But as I started writing the music it very soon became so much more than I’ve planned initially. The sound evolved to a point that it brought my experience in heavy music in, my childhood music influences got involved, and the blues and rock came to be a big part of the sound as well. It was no longer a Country project, it had evolved into a Blues Rock/Dark Country Hybrid Project, but hey if it sounds good, it sounds good right!?  And that’s why I’ve decided to stick with it.

You build a name for yourself in Sweden as energetic frontman and singer for several metalbands. Lime Wolf however, brings a more dark-country style to the block. How come you decided to go in this direction?

I love metal I really do, and I will probably never stop making that kind of music, because the other bands means the world to me as well. But you see, when it comes to Lime Wolf I wanted to try something new. I wanted to explore what I could come up with if I left the Metal and Metalcore genre, so you might say this all started as an experiment

You also have announced to release a single very soon! What can you tell me about this?

Ah yes, it’s actually only moments away. The upcoming single “Ride The Wind” is a song that, I imagine, some will get a heavy right foot when driving their car, it has that drive to it, the beat is very driven, and the song itself is a song that’s telling us not to be afraid of taking chances when an opportunity shows up. Don’t be afraid of leaving our comfort zone. We need to take chances to be able to get somewhere in life. The person that never takes chances won’t get anywhere in life, because to win we will have to be able to make tough decisions and that will sometimes mean that we will have to take chance with something and maybe even sacrifice something else to get to where we want to be.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the album?

Well The Album will be the compilation of all of the songs that I’ve lined up for release the next 5 months and a few more, so the style and genre will be blues Rock/Dark Country that will make you want to drive fast! The lyrics will all have a message to deliver and the music itself will be very accessible. I think most of it will make people feel good, because it has that kind of vibe to it. Also, you will for the first time hear me not only singing and play the guitar, I will even play the harmonica in some of the songs, which if you ask me is a very underrated instrument! The harmonica is cool, I’ve always loved that sound!!

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. The harmonica has a real distinctive sound to it so I can see why. For now, I want to thank you for time. By the looks of it, you have exciting times ahead of you! We will surely keep a very close eye on Lime Wolf! On behalf of everyone at Maizter Underground we want to wish you all the best with all you take on in the future!
