Fragment Soul is a progressive doom metal band from Greece. Formed years ago, when some of the members were still in school, they grew into a full-fledged band that released their debut named Axiom of Choice this year. About this debut, the band itself and the future I had a nice talk with these energetic Greeks!
Hey, thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!
How are you doing? Covid and all.
Hello there! First of all I would like to thank you for this invitation. We are very pleased that we can have this small chat! We are doing “good” if you consider that this pandemic affected everything in our lives.
It’s now a few months that our debut album dropped and we would like to thank everyone that supports the band and the album got so many reviews! That means the world to us!
How did the band came to exist?
Fragment Soul is a band that Spiros Georgiou and Jimmy Louvros started with a history that began in our teenage years. We made the decision to “fight” and try our best to release an album that first and foremost does us proud! And we made sure we enjoyed every moment of recording it!
Can you introduce the band-members one by one?
I would like to start with a big thank you to our former drummer Kostas Milonas. He has been working so hard to have this album ready.
So as we speak now the members are:
Jimmy Louvros: Guitars, Composer
Spiros Georgiou: Bass, Composer, Lyricisist, concept creator.
Nick Argyriou: Main vocals, Lyricisist
Vangelis Simfonis (Kakarougkas): Keys, piano, hammonds organ
And we are really excited about the new member of our “core” line up:
Giorgos Pouliasis: Drums
At this point I would like to do a shout out for Heike Langhans! She did the female vocals in this record (Draconian, Light Field Reverie). Hands the reason she is a “special” member for us.
You guys call yourself Fragment Soul. How did you come up with this name and what does it mean?
We tried to find a name that would represent the style of our music and lyrics.
So this name came naturally one day.
Can you tell me something about the journey this far? Where did the creativity came from for your first “own work” and who (if any) did inspire you?
It was a long journey to finish and release our debut album Axiom of Choice indeed.
Creativity is a way of expression our feelings and thoughts so it came with no pressure when we point the composition part. Many people, bands inspired us. Bands like Katatonia, Anathema, Opeth, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and a lot more.
What are the (longtime) goals with Fragment Soul?
Our next steps are to get on the road and do as many live shows possible. And we are already started wiork for our 2nd album.
Are there are singles/ an album coming up?
Not yet! But we are working already on our second album so please keep an eye out for us!
Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?
We have and can’t wait to announce when we get officially booked! We really can’t wait to share the music live with the audience!
