Brief interview with NervoChaos

in 1996 NervoChaos emerged in Sao Paolo, Brazil. A death metal band that has been around for 25 years and has traveled the world! With a new album on the way, the time had come to have a talk with Edu Lane. The drummer for NervoChaos and part of this death metal band from its inception.

He Edu! Thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to do this interview.

How are you doing? Covid and all.

Here, everything is under control. This period of pandemic has not been easy, but we are all healthy, vaccinated and hoping for better days. Apart from all of this, we are taking advantage of this moment to reconnect with ourselves, to use our time productively and intelligently. We’ve written a lot of new material, we’ve been rehearsing a lot too and we recorded four full length albums. We also did several podcasts and a few streams, so we’re keeping ourselves busy to not go insane.

How did the band come to exist?

We were part of another band, named Siegrid Ingrid, but we were very dissatisfied with the way things were going and so we decided to form our own band and take things our own way. Besides the singer, we all left that band, and NervoChaos was born in September 1996 with the idea of creating extreme, chaotic and aggressive music, and not be limited to a specific musical style/genre. Since then we have released 8 studio albums, 1 live album, 4 DVDs, 4 demo-tapes, 2 EPs and did many shows/tours all over the world.

Can you introduce the band members one by one?

The current line-up is:

Brian Stone (vocals)
Luiz ‘Quinho’ Parisi (guitar)
Woesley Johann (guitar)
Pedro Lemes (bass)
Edu Lane (drums)

You guys call yourself NervoChaos. How did you come up with this name and what does it mean?

We wanted a strong and different name, that portrays our musical style, our city of origin and that had a mixture of Portuguese and English. So we started putting words together until we got to NervoChaos

From left to right: Luiz ‘Quinho’ Parisi (g), Edu Lane (d), Pedro Lemes (b), Woesley Johann (g) and Brain Stone (v)

Can you tell me something about the journey this far? Where did the creativity came from for your first “own work” and who (if any) did inspire you?

This year we complete twenty-five years of uninterrupted career. It’s really crazy to look back and realize how much we’ve done and how much we’ve already achieved, always believing in our dreams/goals and working hard to achieve them. We had four songs ready when we left the previous band (Siegrid Ingrid), which we brought with us and that became our first demo-tape, released in October 1996. From then on we focused on live performances and on composing more songs to record our first album. Of course we have many different influences but we are always looking for our own sound, our own trademark. The biggest METAL band in our country is Sepultura and of course they have always been one of our inspirations.

What are the (longtime) goals with NervoChaos?

For us music is not a competition and as long as there is true passion in what we do, we will keep doing it. The success for us is the band being active, composing and releasing music, but especially doing shows and touring. As I said, we do everything we do out of passion and love for music, it’s our life style, and we never cared about the trends that flooded the scene. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel but we want to keep it turning.

Are there singles/ an album coming up?

Yes! We have a new album, ‘Dug Up…Diabolical Reincarnations’, coming out in November 19th thru Xenokorp Records (in Europe). For this album we have 3 singles and 2 of them (‘Pazuzu is Here’ || ‘Putrid Pleasures’) are already available on all streaming platforms.

Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?

If all goes well with the pandemic situation, from April 2022, we will start our world tour. This tour will pass through Europe, the Americas (South/Central/North) and Asia, mainly club shows but there are a few festival appearances too for that tour.

Allright! Thank you for your time. On behalf of the whole team at Maizter Underground, we want to wish NervoChaos all the best with all you guys will do in the future!
