Hailing from Greece, ORRA (ΩЯRΑ) was formed back in 2019. A collection of experienced and open minded musicians, who have experience working with each other, had decided to join forces and thus started a brand new band. The covid pandemic restricted their movements, but also gave them the opportunity to work dedicated towards the completion of their debut album. Unbounded is its name and is set for release on April, 14th 2022 on all mayor platforms. About time to find out a little more about these talented guys!
Hey, thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!
How are you doing? Covid and all.
Hello Maizter Underground and thanks for the interview. We are fine, everything seems difficult nowadays but we are trying to be positive, evolve and move forward in terms of the Covid pandemic. The recording process was really easy and in fact we already miss the nice creative hours of “inclusion”. We were very focused without any creative restrictions at all.
How did the band came to exist?
ORRA (ΩЯRΑ) formed in the fall of 2019 by a collection of experienced, focused, and open-minded musicians, who have worked together in different projects throughout the years.
Can you introduce the bandmembers one by one?
Yes,current band(permanent) members are:
Peter V. Pierrakeas – Guitars-Keyboards
Minornoiser – Bass
And on the album Unbounded ,also performed:
William V. Baldo – Drums and Percussion
Vasilis Axiotis – Vocals(session)
You guys call yourself ORRA(ΩЯRΑ). How did you come up with this name and what does it mean?
The name ΩЯRΑ is actually a paraphrase of the Greek word ΩΡΑ (time). It is written with two Rs, one looking to the left and the other to the right, symbolizing the past and the future.
Can you tell me something about the journey this far? Where did the creativity came from for your first “own work” and who (if any) did inspire you?
We have a wide range of influences, which covers almost all styles of Rock Music, as well as other genres (orchestral, symphonic, experimental, etc.). Lyrically, we draw ideas and inspiration from various subject areas (imaginary and “real”) combining different techniques (allegory, ambiguity, folding, etc.)
What are the (long-time) goals with ORRA?
In terms of Music, at this point and time, it is simply a balance of our dreams with some realistic goals. Nothing fancy.
Are there are singles or an album coming up?
Our debut album is coming out this year and it is called Unbounded. It will be digitally released on all major platforms on April 14th.
Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?
Not in the near future but we are working on it. Our demands are high in terms of live performances. If the appropriate conditions are met, we will move in this direction as well.
