In 2012 VERITAS was founded in the United States by guitarist Greg Wenk and original drummer Adam Hartley. After releasing their first EP in 2019 (Named VERITAS) their full length debut named Threads of Fatality dropped in 2020. Sadly this four-piece progressive metal outfit didn’t have the chance yet to proparly tour with the new album, mainly because of Covid. I sat down with the band for a nice chat!
Hey, thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!
How are you doing? Covid and all.
We are doing great! I just got back from checking out mixes on three new songs.
How did the band came to excist?
Veritas was started in 2012 by Greg Wenk after a long hiatus from his previous band. After several auditions, Geno Alberico was added on bass and shortly after Denny Anthony was added on Vocals. Getting Mark Zonder to record drums was Denny’s idea. He had worked with him previously.
Can you introduce the bandmembers one by one?
Denny Anthony is our vocalist.

You guys call yourself Veritas. How did you come up with this name and what does it mean?
I found the name Veritas after searching for a while. It just stood out. Veritas is latin for truth and the logo behind it is awen which is a Celtic symbol for creativity.
Can you tell me something about the journey this far? Where did the creativity came from for your first “own work” and who (if any) did inspire you?
The band was started after a several year hiatus from my previous band. It became obvious that het other members weren’t interested in playing anymore but I wasn’t ready to stop. I had written many songs during that time period and needed to find the right members. I have way too many bands and musicians hat inspire me and it lso changes all the time. A few are Savatage, Crimson Glory, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Yngwie, George Lynch
What are the (longtime) goals with Veritas?
We want to keep writing and releasing music and hopefully be able to do it as a full time occupation. We would love to get out on the road.
Are there are singles/ an album coming up?
Yes, we are currently working on our next cd. I don’t have much more information at this time, but we’ll update our website as soon as we know more.
Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?
Nothing currently planned but we are hoping to get out as more venues open up
