Anders and Jens Johansson in Norrköping

Jan Johansson’s music is a legacy and his sons, Anders and Jens, are really taking good care of the heresy. Their father was, and still is, an icon in the jazz genre. It is timeless music and very beautiful. It is music that gets you tranquil and in a very meditative spot. For me the music also is a walk down memory lane and it brings back halcyon childhood memories.

I can just imagine how it feels to take care of such treasure and also a great bound to their father. It is a way to keep his memory alive in a beautiful way. For me personally it is also a way to keep good memories of my father alive as he was a huge fan of Jan Johansson’s music. This is music that was played a lot when I grew up. Jan Johansson made exquisite music and incorporated the folklore style in his music. It really makes me think of how music has developed through humanity during all centuries. I know ,for myself, when I see a sublime movie in my head when I let my thoughts go wandering, that it is good. Jan’s music mostly gives me a movie of freedom and amazing landscape scenery in my head.

Sometimes it is really soothing to hear music without anyone singing as it makes you really listen to every tone and that is such a meditative feeling. Sometimes words aren’t necessary because the music presented, speaks for itself. Anders and Jens have taken extremely well care of the music legacy and come today, they don’t need any further presentation or introduction. We know them from different groups on the rock and metal stage’s and, just as their father, they both have become living legends. We also know that the next generation of Johansson’s will have a music legacy to cherish, and they have started their own path’s to become legendary as musicians.

The venue where this concert took place was Hörsalen in Norrköping, 8th of September. It was mostly elderly people in the audience but I also saw some Tungsten t-shirts. Hörsalen is from the beginning a church that then was rebuilt to a music stage. It used to be the stage for the Norrköpings philharminic orchestra. This was before Louis De Geer concert and congress hall was built.
This place has its own legacy so therefore it was the perfect framing for legendary music! I think most Swedes recognise the songs, even if you don’t know the name of the song, but you will recognize it when you hear it. It was shown that they enjoyed standing there on the stage playing the music. As it is music that speaks for itself, there is no need for a lot of in-between-talk. Anders is more comfortable to talk to the audience but he pushed Jens a bit out of his comfort zone when he handed over the microphone to him.

We heard classic ones as Visa från Utanmyra, Gånglåt från Rättvik and Ack Wermeland du sköna to name some of the songs. Sometimes we just need music like this and if you get the chance to see the Johansson’s Brothers playing their father’s music, take it and just enjoy it!

Yours truly!
