During the ongoing pandemic Greek Marialena Trikoglou, who can be known as soprano vocalist in Greek Horrorgraphy, started a solo project resulting in the release of her debut album named Vanity (2020). This project (named Marialena) grew into a band and as we speak they are working hard on their second album. About these albums, new material and some other things I sat down with Marialena for a nice talk!
Hey, thanks for taking the time for an interview with Maizter Underground!
How are you doing? Covid and all.
Thank you for the invitation. It`s a pleasure for me being here. I am doing well. I am working really hard for my new projects and I am trying to forget the difficulties that I passed through with Covid.
How did things began for you?
Well, it started as a solo project because I was really eager to share my music and to start being a member of the metal scene.
I have already released my first solo album and right now we are working as a band to create our second album.
Can you tell me something about the journey this far? Where did the creativity came from for your first “own work” and who (if any) did inspire you?
As I said before I wanted more than anything to publish a solo album. I love to sing and finding vocal lines in my songs and I also love writing lyrics. I had many ideas on piano for many compositions and I asked for help from a very good friend of mine and a great composer, Vangelis Yalamas. I asked him to compose some songs for me and to continue some of my compositions. I am an opera singer and I was studying classical music for many years, so I got most of my inspiration from Wagner, Edward Shore, Loreena Mc Kennitt and much more classical composers and metal bands.
What are your (longtime) goals?
My main goal is to sing all around the world because I love what I am doing so much! My bandmates and me are doing the best we possibly can for that and we are working really hard to achieve these goals!
Is there a single or an album coming up?
Yes we are working hard on our next album which is going to be released during the summer of 2022. We are working as a band and I am going to release more news really soon!
Do you have any festivals/gigs/shows planned?
We are having many things in mind and some other things planned as well. Except some lives in our country, We are discussing about a big festival on summer 2022 but sadly I can`t reveal more right now, until there`s something booked.
